Concertmaster of New Symphony Orchestra

Biography

Dr. Yuliyan Stoyanov has been recognized by the media as a diverse performer with distinct individuality, who embraces many musical genres along his journey. From strictly classical to jamming with pop and rock bands, through recording music for movies and theater, he has shared his talent with audiences small and large. Stoyanov has performed in intimate bistros and on the stages of crowded sports arenas on three continents. He has collaborated with some of the world’s most celebrated musicians of our day.

Stoyanov has been featured in recitals and concerts, collaborating with distinguished artists such as Anthony McGill, Evan Wilson, Karl Paulnack, and Julie Levin
An avid chamber musician, Stoyanov was a co-founder and leader of two different string quartets – Arcadiana String Quartet, the Quartet-in-Residence of New Symphony Orchestra in Sofia, Bulgaria and Castalian Quartet in Cincinnati, OH. During their active years, both quartets thrived on the musical scene, earning fame through their large repertoire and diverse collaborations with leading musicians, soloists and orchestras.

During his residency as the concertmaster of New Symphony Orchestra, Stoyanov’s strong leadership guided the group through multiple musical journeys in the form of concerts, masterclasses, recording sessions and festivals. His concertmaster solos, under the baton of Rossen Milanov, have been featured on the CD recording of Frank Lewin’s Opera in three acts Burning Bright, available by Albany Records. He was invited to lead the Symphony Orchestra of Jeunesses Musicales Suisse under the direction of Adam Fischer for their concert in Tonhalle in Zurich, Switzerland.

As an orchestral musician, Stoyanov has shared the stage with Nigel Kennedy, Yuri Bashmet, Misha Maisky, Emmanuel Pahud, Orli Shaham, and Kiri Te Kanawa, and has worked with conductors Paavo Jarvi, Gerard Schwarz, and Gianluigi Gelmetti among many others.

Stoyanov holds a Doctoral degree in Violin Performance from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati.
