Dr. Pat Partington has spend 25 years working in the field of exercise rehabilitation from both physical and psychological perspectives. After realising that even the best rehabilitation programmes are ineffective at restoring a patient's health if they do not stick to it, he sought answers in the fields of psychology and sociology.
He completed a PhD in the study of exercise adherence to tackle this problem. In addition, he is qualified in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Neurolinguistic programming (NLP) and hypnotherapy. For 10 years, he has combined his specialist training to improve patients' mental well-being alongside their physical health. He has done so by using CBT and hypnotherapy for sufferers of chronic pain, anxiety and depression.
When working as a Senior Lecturer at the Anglo European College of Chiropractic (AECC), he set up his own training and development company - Training Great Minds! His dedication to providing practical help to those working in manual therapy and exercise medicine was rewarded with 3 Student Led Teaching Awards for scholarly development, practitioner development and professional development.
Pat's aim is to produce psychologically informed clinicians, be they chiropractors, osteopaths, physiotherapists, clinical exercise professionals or anyone else working in the field of pain management. His three specialist fields are pain control, treatment of irritable bowel syndrome and weight management.
He holds the following accreditations:
